“The family segment is highly important to us. We seek to ensure that travelling with children is not only free of difficulties, but also becomes a pleasant experience to the entire family. Therefore, at Vilnius Airport, we will implement measures which will provide even more conveniences to travelling families,” said Tomas Rytel, Director of the Organisational Development Department of the Airports of Lithuania.
A decision was made to renew the marking of the Airport security checkpoint to grant priority to families with small children. From now on, this checkpoint is even brighter and has been installed based on a playful allusion to The Yellow Brick Road.
Yet another novelty which is particularly convenient for families with young children – pushchairs which can now be found in as many as five passenger boarding bridges of Vilnius Airport, otherwise called sleeves. These pushchairs will be handy for families with small children upon arrival, when they will be able to conveniently reach the luggage pick-up place. However, it is noteworthy that pushchairs may be picked up and dropped not just anywhere, but in designated areas which are specially marked.
The Airport also provides a possibility of easier travel in case only one parent is travelling with a young child. In all the three airports, security checkpoints have been equipped with baby chairs and cots which come in handy when one person – a mother or a father – needs to hold a baby and, at the same time, produce his/her boarding pass, prepare the luggage for a security check and prepare him/herself, that is, take off his/her outer garments.
In the near future, the Airport also plans to renovate children’s playgrounds.
