The new rotation will provide training for the 1st Battalion, Airmobile Brigade, Ukrainian Army, at the Multinational Peacekeeping and Security Centre, Yavoriv Training Area (Lviv oblast) for two and a half months as off October 3.
The Lithuanian military instructors team number 16 members: 15 officers and sergeants with the Lithuanian Grand Duke Kęstutis Battalion and 1 soldiers with the Lithuanian Grand Duke Butigeidis Dragoon Battalion.
“I am confident that the rotation deployed to Ukraine will perform with professionalism and convey all of their experience to our Ukrainian colleagues,” Commander of the Motorised Infantry Brigade Žemaitija Lieutenant Colonel Artūras Radvilas said at the deployment ceremony.
“Our team will interact with participants of the Anti-terrorist Operation, therefore it will be mutual learning. We will not only work to transfer our experience to Ukrainians but also look forward to learning from their experience,” Captain Vaidas Lisaitis with Kęstutis Battalion who would be in charge of the deployed team said at the ceremony.
It is the seventh rotation of military instructors Lithuania has deployed to assist training Ukrainian forces. It will take over the task from a Lithuanian Grand Duke Butigeidis Dragoon Battalion-based team currently in Ukraine.
Lithuania supports the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine and its European and Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations. Lithuania’s cooperation with Ukraine has been one of the key foreign policy priorities for a long time.
Since the beginning of the Russian aggression in Ukraine Lithuania actively provides assistance to Ukraine in all forms, including military assistance, possible. Lithuania donated elements of weaponry and ammunition to Ukraine and provides medical and post-treatment care for injured Ukrainian soldiers in Lithuania. Together with other allies lIThuania assists Ukraine in its reform and training of national armed forces.
