The company said the first two full months of regular services have encouraged Estonians to use domestic flights. In August the number of passengers on the island routes was bigger by 72 than in July.
"Passengers have given us a warm reception and the number of passengers in August was on a slightly upward trend compared with July, for instance," Rene Must, representative for Transaviabaltika in Estonia, said.
The number of passengers was 2,374 in August and 2,302 in July. In June, 735 passengers boarded a Transaviabaltika plane for a domestic flight in Estonia after the services were resumed on June 20. The average load factor for flights to and from Saaremaa was 63 percent and for flights to and from Hiiumaa 45 percent in August.
In a breakdown by route, 1,325 passengers used the Tallinn-Kuressaare-Tallinn service connecting the capital of Saaremaa with the national capital and 1,049 the Tallinn-Kardla-Tallinn service to Hiiumaa.
In addition to regular services, the Hiiu county government ordered extra departures for Fridays and Sundays to offer residents more convenient travel opportunities.
The carrier operated 44 flights on the Tallinn-Kardla-Tallinn route and 130 flights on the Tallinn-Kuressaare-Tallinn route between June 20 and August 31.
