Lithuania celebrates Statehood Day

At noon on July 6 members of the Honour Guard Company representing the Lithuanian Land Force, Air Force, and Navy hoisted the national and the historical flags of Lithuania in Simonas Daukantas Square during celebration of Lithuania’s Statehood Day. Alongside top leadership of Lithuania the event were attended by Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas, Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lieutenant General Jonas Vytautas Žukas, civilian and military representatives of the National Defence System. Prior to the flag hoisting event President of the Republic of Lithuania HE Dalia Grybauskaitė presented state awards for merits to and proclamation of Lithuania worldwide at the Presidential Palace.
