"China is increasingly interested in investment opportunities in Lithuania. Yunnan Dianhong Group also shows interest and we encourage the company to come to Lithuania," Butkevicius said in a comment.
"It is the largest black tea producer with plans to expand its business and its representation in Europe. It has plans to register a company in Lithuania that could operate as a marketing center for Europe and perhaps set up a processing facility in our country. We hope that these plans will become a reality," he said.
The prime minister is meeting with Wang Tianquan, chairman of the management board at Yunnan Dianhong Group, later in the day to discuss the company's possible investments in Lithuania.
Yunnan Dianhong Group is China's biggest tea grower and manufacturer with 85 processing facilities and an annual production output of 15,000 tons of tea.
