According to the figures, SEB Bankas had assets worth 6.889 billion euros at the end of March, accounting for 29.3% of the total banking assets, followed by Swedbank in second place with 6.174 billion euros and a 26.3-% market share.
At the beginning of June, Swedbank took over the retail banking business of Danske Bank for a sum that was not announced. According to calculations made by the Bank of Lithuania, the deal should raise the Swedbank market share by about 2 percentage points.
In late March, DNB Bankas ranked third with assets worth 3.993 billion euros and a 17% market share.
Lithuanian banks' total assets amounted to 19.388 billion euros, or 82.6% of the banking system's assets, and foreign bank branches' assets, to 8.088 billion euros, or 17.4%.
SEB Bankas' portfolio of loans and advances totaled 4.956 billion euros, giving it a 30% market share, while Swedbank held a 24.7-percent market share with 4.082 billion euros and DNB Bankas a 17.3-percent market share with 2.862 billion euros.
Swedbank had the largest deposit portfolio in late March, at 5.396 billion euros, giving it a 32.7-percent market share. SEB Bankas followed in second place with 4.732 billion euros (28.2% of the market) and DNB Bankas in third with 2.279 billion euros (13.8%).
Six commercial banks and seven foreign bank branches operate in Lithuania.
