Lithuanian Railways' freight traffic grew by 3% in January-April

Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways) handled a total of 15.254 million tons of freight during the first four months of the year 2016, up 2.7% year-on-year, preliminary figures from Statistics Lithuania showed on May 20th. International freight traffic decreased by 1.2% to 10.9 million tons, but domestic freight volumes increased by 13.7% to 4.4 million tons. In April alone, the state railway operator carried 3.75 million tons of freight – down 3.6% month-on-month, but up 3.9% year-on-year.
