"I think over time Kaunas could potentially become a base. It will come in time, we need to see current operations to understand the demand for working from Kaunas. If you look the Wizz Air network, we have 22 bases, many in small secondary airports. I think it will happen in one to two years," Wizz Air CEO Jozsef Varadi told.
In his words, speaking about a base in Palanga is still too early, Wizz Air is only considering new routes from the Palanga airport. Varadi added that new winter-season flights from Lithuania were now being harmonized and should be presented in about three months.
Wizz Air currently operates flights from all of Lithuania's three airports of Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga, however, its base with two airliners is based in the capital Vilnius. It was opened in 2011.
