According to the first-quarter export report by Russia's gas monopolist Gazprom, Lithuania reduced its Russian gas imports by 63.2% in January through March 2016 compared with a year earlier to 255 million cubic meters (mcm) and Estonia cut imports by 73.6% to 70 mcm.
Latvia imported 271 mcm of Russian gas during the three months, a rise of 68.3% year-on-year.
All major Lithuanian gas importers this year began to purchase gas from Norway's Statoil. Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas (Lithuanian Gas Supply) also continues to buy gas from Gazprom under a contract with a take or pay clause that expired last year.
