Lithuanian Railways' freight traffic grows by 2.3% in January-March

Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways) handled a total of 11.505 million tons of freight during the first three months of the year 2016, up 2.3% year-on-year, preliminary figures from Statistics Lithuania showed on April 21st. International freight traffic decreased by 3.7% to 8.2 million tons, but domestic freight volumes increased by 20.6% to 3.4 million tons. In March alone, the state railway operator carried 3.891 million tons of freight –- up 1.2% month-on-month and up 7.5% year-on-year.
