In videos, showing the railway village roads can be seen intersecting with the tracks, there are no overpasses or protective fences. Lithuania has promised to search for possibilities to increase the speeds enabled by the railway section, Postimees said.
The European Commission has said that to get further funding for the section of the railway Lithuania must come up with a concrete plan how the existing section can be made straighter during the next ten years or a new section built enabling speeds of up to 240 kilometers per hour.
