The contract was worth 350,000 euros, the Lithuanian Mint said in a press release.
The Mint will produce three different decorations – the Three-Star Order, the Order of Viesturs and the Cross of Recognition.
The Order of Three Stars is the highest state honor in Latvia awarded for accomplishments on behalf of the state. The Order of Viesturs is awarded for outstanding military achievements, for accomplishments in maintaining and strengthening national security, for protecting the country's borders, etc. The Cross of Recognition is awarded for great achievements in culture, sports, politics or education.
Lithuania's citizens have also been awarded these decorations to honor their achievements for Latvia. President Valdas Adamkus was awarded the Order of Three Stars, First-Class, and the Chain in 2001 while Algirdas Brazauskas was presented the Grand Cross of the Order of Three Stars in 1996.
The revenue of the Lithuanian Mint soared by 61.2% between January and September, to 9.597 million euros, from 5.955 million euros in the same period last year. The company's net profit soared more than twofold to 869,000 euros.
The Lithuanian Mint is fully owned by the state.
