"Kites symbolize joy, happiness and well-being in Lithuania. Soon we will stand at the helm of Europe, so I invite people to fly the kites in the whole country. Let's share good news, showing our openness and belief in Europe. May our kites inspire all Europeans, filling with joy and confidence that together we will overcome all difficulties," the President said.
Kites with best wishes for Lithuania and Europe were made by students from Kaunas Vytautas Magnus University Rasa Gymnasium and Vilnius Gabija Gymnasium, who were assisted by kite masters Marius Abramavičius and Jonas Kriščiūnas.
The President and Lithuanian people will fly the kites into the sky on 10 May during the event "European Winds" by the White Bridge in Vilnius, including the kite presenting the logo of the Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council.
Lithuania will take over the Presidency of the EU Council from 1 July.
