"I want to state that we are merging in order not to avoid the responsibility and we are taking all the liability and claims expressed towards the former Labour Party. If the court decides to pose a fine in the civil proceedings, the application will be submitted to a new political organization" - V. Uspaskich said.
The statute, structure and the program of the new party were approved during the founding congress.
The leader of the former Labour Party, the member of the Seimas Viktor Uspaskich says that such a move is not related to the case of the Labour Party.
"If we would like to escape from the responsibility, this could be done much easier. Everybody could leave the Labour Party and the Ministry of Justice would have to close it, because according to the Law on Political Parties, the party which does not have 1000 members cannot exist. And nobody can prohibit us from doing so." - V. Uspaskich explained.
The politician also said that the negotiations with the Order and Justice party are still going on and the parties can successfully merge.
"We are negotiating also with some other parties, for instance, Christian Democrats. There are a lot of parties which want to merge with us."- V. Uspaskich assured.
District Court of Vilnius is investigating the criminal case of the Labour Party which is accused of illegal accountancy management.
The Labourists Party was founded on 15th of June, 2008.
