According to the President, Lithuania and Switzerland maintain successful cooperation by strengthening bilateral relations and promoting dialogue on the most important international policy issues. The President noted that the upcoming visit by the President of the Swiss Confederation to Lithuania on 3 June and the Lithuanian presidency of the Council of the European Union from July would open up new opportunities for enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
As the President stressed, since re-establishment of Lithuania's independence Switzerland has been providing significant financial and expert assistance to our country.
Lithuania-Switzerland economic interaction is active, the President said, yet there is potential for furthering the relationship in this sphere. Currently, Switzerland is among Lithuania's thirty major export partners.
The Swiss diplomat was born in Italy. Prior to joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he served in the International Red Cross missions in El Salvador and Georgia. Markus Dutly holds a diploma in political science.
