According to the Prime Minister, this meeting demonstrates that foreign investors see Lithuania as a sound country for business development. "Despite the geopolitical tensions in the region, Lithuania's economy continues to grow. With our 3 per cent annual growth last year we made it among the fastest growing economies in the European Union. This year, the international situation remains tense, but we can still predict at least 2 percent growth in the future", said the Prime Minister.
The Head of Government has noted Russian embargo's impact on Lithuania's exports, which has prompted efforts to look for new markets, and exports to EU countries have grown, as a result, by 7 per cent. "As we continue searching for new markets, US decision to authorize imports of meat of Lithuanian origin has been particularly welcome", said the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister has noted positive international ratings confirming country's good environment for business operations. This is also evidenced by the World Bank's Index, as Lithuania has made it to the 15th position by ease of doing business, according to the Prime Minister.
It has been pointed out that innovations always find funding, and good ideas translate into actual projects. "We are committed to continue creating high-skilled jobs, and your investment is one of the means to achieve it", said the Prime Minister.
According to the Prime Minister, the new social model will not only encourage the creation of new jobs and thus reduce unemployment in the country, but also will attract talent and bring back to the country different professionals. "The new social model will enable building socially responsible, and internationally competitive economic policy, which is to generate added value for the country, and well-paying jobs for its people", said the Prime Minister.
The American Chamber of Commerce was established in Lithuania as a public organization in 1993. This voluntary non-political organization brings together businesspeople from the United States and several other countries operating in Lithuania. Its mission is to promote common business interests of the members and contribute to better business environment in our country.
