The draft of the Law provides some amendments in the Criminal Code: the one who made ​​the procedure of an abortion and the one who forced the woman to have an abortion shall be punished, never shall the woman.

Doctors who were present at the conference emphasized that human life begins at the conception. ‘A child, before his birth, is already a human’ - Dr. Danielius Serapinas (Mykolas Romeris University,Vilnius) said.

Janina Irena Tartilienė, Vice-chairwoman of the Lithuanian Association of the World Federation of Doctors Who Respect Human Life, claimed that abortion makes a lot of harm to woman’s health. Many of women suffer from the so-called post-abortion syndrome; there is also a higher risk in the future pregnancies.

The authors of the Law stressed that the exceptions when the pregnancy threatens mother's life and health or is the result of rape, have been taken into consideration. The members of the Seimas noted the disinformation of the society. It is said that after implementing the ban on the abortion, the number of the abortions made illegally would increase rapidly. It is not true: in Poland, before the Law on prohibiting abortions was implemented, 1.5 thousand of women made it on their own request. Some informal statistics state that in Poland about 200 thousand of illegal abortions are being made every year.
