The NATO StratCom COE in Riga conducting strategic communications expertise and research became functional in the autumn of 2014. Lithuania is one of the 7 sponsoring nations of the NATO StratCom COE and intensely contributes to its operation. Delegating 2 representatives to the NATO StratCom COE staff, Lithuania is one of the two countries (the other being Germany) contributing the biggest number of personnel to the Centre besides Latvia, the StratCom COE Framework Nation.
After the inauguration of premises Minister J.Olekas will take part in the Riga Stratcom Dialogue: Perception Matters Conference taking place at the same time in Riga where he will join a discussion on the role of strategic communications in NATO transformation process along with President of Latvia Raimonds Vejonis and Estonia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Estonia Marina Kaljurand.
At the conference Minister J.Olekas will meet with Georgia's Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration David Bakradze and Defence Minister of Latvia Raimonds Bergmanis.
In its turn, Lithuania has been the host for a NATO Centre of Excellence for energy security (NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence - NATO ENSEC COE) in Vilnius since 2102.
