The ceremony is expected to be conducted in attendance of Vice Minister of National Defence Marijus Velička, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Lithuania HE Aydan Yamancan, and Lithuanian representatives of the Ministry and the Armed Forces.
The Defence Attaché of Turkey will be based in Riga, Latvia, and is accredited to three countries – Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Lithuania has not accredited a defence attaché to Turkey.
LTC N. Dalkiran who will succeed Colonel Osman Erkli after acting in the capacity since 9 July 2013 is a graduated of military academy.
Lithuanian-Turkish cooperation is carried out in line with intergovernmental agreements between the two countries on contacts and cooperation in areas of defence equipment and study, and military training and defence industry.
Lithuanian soldiers have attended various courses at Turkey's military education institutions, such as fight against cyber terrorism, crisis management, law of armed conflicts, etc.
Turkey also provided its air capabilities to the NATO Baltic Air Policing Mission. Four F-16 Fighting Falcon jets with crews of the Turkish Air Force were deployed to Šiauliai Air Base April-July of 2006.
Turkey is one of the Framework Nations (alongside Italy, Latvia and Lithuania) to the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence (NATO ENSEC COE) established in Vilnius in 2012. Currently a Turkish representative works in the staff of the NATO ENSEC COE staff.
