Karoblis will assume his new duties on 19 August. It is expected that he will be in charge of EU affairs, external economic relations and economic diplomacy.
Karoblis began his work with Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994. From 1995, the diplomat led the Trade Department, served as the Deputy Director of the Economic Department, later as its Director.
From 1999 to 2003, Karoblis served at the Permanent Mission of Lithuania to the United Nations Office at Geneva, served as the Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization. From 2003 he led the Economic Department. From 2005 to 2007 he was the Director of the Foreign Trade Policy Department of Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2007, the diplomat served at the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the European Union in Brussels. From 2010 to 2015 he led this representation.
Karoblis succeeded Rolandas Kriščiūnas, who was appointed as Lithuania's Ambassador to the United States of America.
