According to Linkevičius, the United Kingdom is Lithuania's important partner and ally, the two countries enjoy strong economic and political ties. The Lithuanian Foreign Minister said that the United Kingdom was an important and strong member of the European Union, and hoped that the country would stay in the Community.
The officials also discussed joint action of the European Union to combat disinformation, incitement to war and hostile propaganda. Lithuania's Foreign Minister thanked the Ambassador for experts' bilateral cooperation in the field of strategic communications. Both interlocutors agreed to cooperate, maintain close ties and work in a coordinated manner to implement other initiatives.
The meeting also discussed the security situation in Europe. Lithuania and the United Kingdom uniformly assess the situation in Ukraine and Russia's role in this conflict. Lithuania's Foreign Minister welcomed the United Kingdom's strong and consistent position on Russia. The Ambassador assured that British officials particularly valued Lithuania's experience and expertise, and were interested in close cooperation on the Eastern Partnership policy.
Lawrence succeeded David Hunt as British Ambassador to Lithuania in June. She presented her letters of credence to President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė on 3 July.
