Euro zone leaders have gathered in Brussels to discuss the anti-crisis plan presented by the Greek government and its credibility as a basis to re-open negotiations on receiving financial support from the European Stability Mechanism fund.
According to the President, the recent populist policies carried out by the Greek government have brought the country to the brink of default and have resulted in the loss of trust by both creditors and EU partners.
Fine promises are not enough to overcome the crisis, the President said. To have the support and trust of international creditors, Greece needs to take immediate, decisive and concrete actions which would open the way to essential reforms. Only then the decision will be made to start negotiations on the third bailout from the European Stability Mechanism.
