"As regards the relationship between the two countries, informal relations are as important as formal. We enjoy particularly good relations with the leaders of the Latvian parliament. We have close cooperation within the Baltic Assembly and between the inter-parliamentary groups, and every year we hold a joint celebration to mark the Day of the Balts. Both professional and personal relations are a significant contribution in addressing issues of common interest," the Speaker of the Seimas said.
Meanwhile, the Latvian Ambassador, Mārtiņš Virsis, marked that Latvia still had something to learn from Lithuania. The Ambassador stressed that the Seimas had very effective Committees on Foreign Affairs and on European Affairs.
