"Sometimes results are not delivered as quickly or as easily as hoped. However, it is important to keep moving in the chosen direction calmly and confidently," said the Minister at the opening of the conference.
During the event, Linkevičius met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Tamar Beruchashvili to discuss bilateral relations. The officials noted that the first meeting of Lithuania-Georgia Intergovernmental Commission would take place at the end of June in Vilnius.
As regards the outcome of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga, Linkevičius pointed out that Georgia was definitely among the leaders of the Eastern Partnership programme, therefore, increasing attention was being given to reforms carried out by the Government of Georgia.
"In this context it is important to stay united and focused on the implementation of the reforms," said the Minister. During the meeting, Linkevičius also expressed his condolences over the loss of life in the devastating flood in Tbilisi.
On the same day, Linkevičius held separate meetings with Georgian Defence Minister Tinatin Khidasheli, Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Davit Bakradze. The officials highlighted Lithuania's support for Georgia's territorial integrity, discussed security situation and other topical issues of bilateral cooperation.
During the visit to Batumi, Linkevičius and Georgian Foreign Minister Beruchashvili signed the updated Charter on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.
