Dalia Grybauskaitė and Lamberto Zannier discussed regional security issues and OSCE's role in ensuring the implementation of the Minsk agreements. According to the President, it is necessary to strengthen the OSCE special monitoring mission and ensure its free movement and security. The President pointed out that conflict resolution would be impossible without an international monitoring of the Ukraine-Russia border.
Women's situation in the occupied territories of Ukraine was also discussed at the meeting. The President noted that due to ongoing military aggression more and more women are exposed to violence and real threat to their lives. Concerted efforts by all countries, the OSCE and the United Nations are needed to ensure the protection of women and provide assistance to all those whom military actions have forced out of their homes.
Taking part in the meeting with the President were Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Michael Georg Link, lead author for the global study on the United Nations Security Council resolution on women, peace and security Radhika Coomaraswamy, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia at UN Women Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir.
