While assessing the outcomes of recent working meetings in Kiev, the participants of the meeting discussed ways how the parliaments of their countries and the Council of Europe could contribute to providing assistance to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
„The newly elected Ukrainian MPs feel highly enthusiastic about reforms, but they lack experience and consistency to achieve the desired goal. In addition to that, they do not have the adequate knowledge about the powers of parliaments of democratic states in carrying out parliamentary control and in other matters. The Lithuanian parliament, well aware of the complexity of the road to democracy, is ready to offer any kind of assistance to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine," said Loreta Graužinienė.
The Speaker of the Seimas also met with the OSCE Project Co-ordinator, Ambassador Vaidotas Verba, and Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, Alexander Hug.
