In Washington, DC Lithuania's Foreign Minister will meet the Speaker of the US House of Representatives John Boehner, Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Richard Stengel, Chief Advisor for European Affairs to President, Charles A. Kupchan, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, Senator John McCain, Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, Chairman of the United States Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Affairs Ron Johnson, Senator Richard Durbin, of Lithuanian descent, Congressmen John Shimkus, Adam Schiff, Andy Barr, Brad Wenstrup, Mario Diaz-Ballart, heads of non-governmental organizations. Implementation of decisions on collective defence of the NATO Summit in Wales, situation in Ukraine, bilateral economic cooperation between Lithuania and the United States, energy and information security issues, prospects of Lithuania's membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development will be discussed at the meetings.
During the visit, Lithuania's Foreign Minister will give speeches at the Atlantic Council, the Bertelsmann Foundation, the Brookings Institution, and the National Endowment for Democracy, will meet members of the local Lithuanian community and will participate in festivities to mark the 25th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuania's independence at the United States Congress.
