"Our national economy is among the fastest-growing economies in the European Union. This year we have joined the eurozone, and there is no doubt that this factor will prompt new foreign investment", said the Head of Government.
Among Lithuania's advantages the Prime Minister has mentioned the strategically attractive geographical location, which allows serving cargos between the East and the West, high-quality national industry, which complies with the international standards, and the educated and skilled labour force. Furthermore, the Prime Minister has noted that the coming May Lithuania expects to start negotiations on joining the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.
The Prime Minister of Lithuania and the Chairman of the Council of State of Oman have expressed their delight about the successful visit by the Minister of Higher Education of Oman to Lithuania, which took place last year, as well as about the concrete results that have already been achieved: Lithuania expects the first Omani students to take part in the student exchange programme in 2015.
To strengthen cultural relations, the Days of Oman will be organised in Lithuania in 2016. The Prime Minister has welcomed the initiative, which will allow Lithuania's society to get a closer look at the Omani traditions.
The meeting has also talked about the possibility to establish an Oman-Lithuania inter-parliamentary cooperation group to reinforce bilateral relations.
