"It was, of course, a turn in the energy sector which ensured our energy independence - the construction of the liquefied natural gas terminal. Also, it was national security when the allies increased their support to Lithuania in the NATO meeting in Wales. When it comes to the interior security area, it was the fight against corruption where Lithuania improved its result on the corruption perception index and stood 17th among the EU member-states while previously we were much lower," Budiene said on the radio Ziniu Radijas.
The presidential advisor also noted that 2014 was the social justice year: Lithuania was among the 7 fastest growing EU member-states, the process of pension compensation has been launched, the minimum monthly pay grew, the unemployment level got down, and the country got prepared for the currency changeover.
The advisor also stressed that this year Lithuania has made memorable steps in the world of science – launching the first satellite LituanicaSAT-1 made Lithuania the progressive space country, and also the research vessel "Mintis" was built by Klaipeda University.
