President Gitanas Nausėda leaves for Oslo on 8 May to attend the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) Summit. Together with the leaders of Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands, the Lithuanian President will discuss strengthening security and defense in the Baltic Sea, the High North and the North Atlantic, and further deepening cooperation with Ukraine.
One of the key outcomes of the Oslo meeting will be the strengthening of ties between the JEF and Ukraine. During the meeting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will address the JEF leaders via videoconference.
First conceived in 2012 by the United Kingdom, the Joint Expeditionary Force currently brings together ten nations from the Northern European region. The JEF is designed to operate across sea, air, and land.
