On the situation at the border with Belarus, Mr Budrys said that the flow of illegal migrants had been significantly reduced as a result of the action taken and stressed the need to seek the EU's financial involvement in strengthening the EU's external borders.
"Cooperation between Lithuania and Poland has come a long way in the last 35 years. The results achieved have laid a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in light of the changed security situation in our region. The strategic partnership between Lithuania and Poland is very important. It strengthens the security of the entire Baltic region," said Minister Budrys.
The Head of Lithuania's diplomacy called for a list of concrete measures to strengthen military interoperability between Lithuania and Poland. Mr Budrys and Mr Sikorski also discussed the synchronisation of the electricity links of Lithuania and the other Baltic States with those of continental Europe, which will take place on 9 February.
