The minister and the ambassadors discussed priority tasks for the EU policies.
The head of Lithuanian diplomacy emphasised the importance to devote particular attention to the EU energy policy, free trade agreement with the US, create internal market of the EU, enhance cohesion policy, promote employment and economic growth.
At the meeting on Monday, the minister also noted the significance of the EU Eastern Partnership.
Talking about the situation in Ukraine, Linkevicius said that the EU has to strongly support Ukraine in guaranteeing its territorial integrity, overcoming complicated humanitarian situation and implementing reforms necessary for rapprochement with the EU.
The meeting was held on the initiative of the Italian Embassy in Lithuania. It is a traditional event organised by the country presiding over the Council of the EU.
