During the hearings, MEPs and members of the relevant parliamentary committees will assess the competence of candidates in the field which they are going to deal with as well as their general competence. The hearings will take place from 29th September to 7th October.
The committees of the European Parliament have already sent five questions to each candidate that they had to answer before 26 September. A vote on the acceptance or rejection of the proposed composition of the European Commission will be held on 22nd October in Strasbourg. The newly elected Commission will start its work on 1st November.
The new Commission will be chaired by former Prime Minister of Luxembourg - Jean-Claud Juncker.
