According to the latest data from the Central Electoral Commission, when the absolute majority of votes was counted, 1 million 396 thousand 828 people, or 59 percent of voters, participated in the referendum. Of these, 79.3 percent of voters (1 million 11 thousand 14) voted in favour of the changes to the Constitution, but this was not enough.
For the amendments to the Constitution to be adopted, at least half of the eligible voters must be in favour of them. This year, a total of 2 million 385 thousand 234 citizens were on the electoral roll, so 1 million 192 thousand 617 electoral votes had to be collected.
In 2019, 72.35 percent of voters were in favour of the changes to the Constitution.
