According to Ms Čmilytė-Nielsen, Lithuania highly appreciates Poland’s contribution to regional security and support to Ukraine.
‘During the call, I told the Marshal of the Polish Senate that we need to further strengthen NATO’s eastern flank and put the decisions adopted at the Vilnius Summit into practice. It is essential to continue our support to Ukraine, in particular now that winter has set in and the Kremlin regime has dragged the West into a race for strategic patience,’ Ms Čmilytė-Nielsen said. She added that Lithuania was ready to continue its cooperation within the Lublin Triangle, an increasingly important format for addressing common challenges.
The remote meeting also discussed bilateral relations between Poland and Lithuania. In the view of the Speaker of the Seimas, the situation calls for an even deeper and broader integration of relations between the two countries. She is convinced that joint strategic infrastructural projects, active development of economic relations and people-to-people cooperation can speed up the process.
