On October 11–12 Minister is in Brussels attending the NATO Defence Ministers meeting, as well as the Ramstein format Ukraine Defense Contact Group and the Norther Group Defence Ministers meetings held in its margins. The former was for the first time held with President of Ukraine HE Volodymyr Zelenskyy in attendance, while Minister A. Anušauskas presented Lithuania’s next package of assistance which includes organisations of a demining coalition for Ukraine.
“I thank the states that have already joined or are considering joining. We currently prioritize demining equipment that could be purchased with the help of Lithuania or other countries and we intend to commit a significant portion of our financial resources for this purpose,“ said Minister.
A. Anušauskas noted that Lithuania compiled its assistance package so that it reflected the most critical needs and priorities expressed by Ukraine. Therefore, Lithuania was just about to transfer NASAMS launchers and is placing an order for 15mm ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine with individual European Union member states.
According to Minister, preparation for winter has already began and Lithuania will hand over to Ukraine power generators and other necessitates for the cold season on that count.
