Gitanas Nausėda and the President of the European Commission discussed topical issues on the EU agenda, support for Ukraine, stepping up pressure on Russia, efforts to hold the aggressor accountable, and the possibilities of expanding Ukraine’s grain exports through the port of Klaipėda.
The Lithuanian leader stressed that we have to continue to fully support Ukraine until its victory—it is necessary to ensure that political, financial, and military support for Ukraine is continued and increased. Gitanas Nausėda also pointed out that Lithuania is ready to contribute to solving Ukraine’s global grain export problem by leveraging the capacities of the port of Klaipėda and the Lithuanian transport and logistics sector.
“We are ready to discuss with the European Commission specific financial support measures that would enable us to increase the capacities of Lithuania’s transport sector and the port,” the President added.
