The agreement was signed between Director General for Capabilities and Armaments of the Ministry of National Defence, Brigadier General Gintautas Zenkevicius, and the Polish enterprise MESKO Director General Waldemar Skowron, and MESKO Member of the Board Piotr Jaromin.
Brigadier General Zenkevicius emphasised that short-range air-defence systems are one of the priorities of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. The mobility and combat characteristics of GROM systems will enhance defence of Lithuanian units and objects against air strikes.
The total value of the contract stands at EUR 34 million. It includes: launchers, rockets, maintenance equipment, field simulators and the logistics package. The system will be supplied in stages. The first shipment will reach Lithuania already this year. The project will be completed by 2021.
