During the meeting with the Polish ambassador accredited to Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda emphasized that Poland was one of Lithuania’s main allies and partners in the European Union and NATO, and stressed the importance of jointly-implemented strategic infrastructure projects. The President also welcomed the active cooperation in the fields of defense, security, culture, and science, as well as the growing trade and investment between the two countries.
In his meeting with the Slovenian ambassador accredited to Lithuania, the President pointed out that bilateral relations, cultural and economic ties had grown stronger in recent years, and that trade between the two countries had increased significantly. President Gitanas Nausėda also expressed support for Slovenia’s candidacy to the United Nations Security Council for the 2024-2025 term.
During the meeting with the Slovak ambassador accredited to Lithuania, the President stressed that despite the growing bilateral trade volume, there was potential for further expansion of mutual economic cooperation, especially in high added value sectors. Gitanas Nausėda also highlighted Slovakia’s contribution to the opening of the OECD-Ukraine Liaison Office in Kyiv, which was established on the initiative of Lithuania and Poland.
In his meetings with the new ambassadors of EU and NATO countries, President Gitanas Nausėda also discussed the priorities of the NATO Vilnius Summit in terms of strengthening collective defense and deterrence, full support for Ukraine’s efforts to achieve victory, and further sanctions of the EU against the aggressors Russia and Belarus.
