“This high-level meeting of cybersecurity experts is an excellent opportunity for strengthening inter-state cooperation in the area of cyber security. Cyber threats know no borders and therefore require a coordinated response with our Allies and partners. Global challenges present in cyberspace continuously change, for which reason we must share best practices and conscript the private sector to look for new solutions in cyber threat prevention together,” says Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas.
The Cyber Champions Summit is the first of the kind event for particularly high-level cybersecurity experts from Australia, Israel, Japan, U.S., Netherlands and other countries to have a forum for sharing experience in countering cyber-attacks, discussing cyber security threats posed by China and Russia and opportunities for cooperation in responding to global cybersecurity challenges, as well as potential attacks on critical infrastructure and prevention possibilities. The event will focus considerably on the emerging (disruptive) technologies – a separate roundtable discussion will be dedicated to challenges and opportunities presented by AI, big data and autonomous systems.
The Cyber Champions Summit aims at facilitating wide-ranging cooperation through involvement of cyber-security experts from three continents so that they are able to share experience and find new ways to strengthen resilience against cyber threats and to increase the national security of their countries. Hackers act across state borders as they seek financial gains, to steal or destroy information, to disrupt or destroy critical infrastructure. Attack vectors resemble worldwide, therefore it is vital to exchange experience with our partners. Quality cooperation requires confidence among partners as an enabler for the exchange of sensitive information and insights and development of joint projects.
In the run-up to the NATO Summit in Vilnius, the commitments taken on at the NATO Summit in Madrid to strengthen cybersecurity capabilities are recalled. NATO Allies will incorporate lessons learned in Ukraine in improving cyber rapid response capabilities and will look for ways to assist Ukraine in the area of cybersecurity.
Not only inter-state but also public-private cooperation is important in preventing threats in cyber space. The Cyber Champions Summit will be attended by representative of such giant and renown IT companies as Google, PaloAlto and Microsoft to reflect that reality.
According to the organizers, the key mission of the Cyber Champions Summit is to provide a platform for countries to share experience and strengthen ties through the development of joint cybersecurity projects, as well as for representatives of private and public sectors to find new cooperation opportunities seeking to enhance the efficiency of critical infrastructure protection and the speed of innovation development to ensure resilience to cyber threats.
