“Lithuania and Poland have confirmed their determination to continue providing military, political, diplomatic, economic, and humanitarian support to Ukraine. The war in Ukraine is our war – the war of the free world against a dictator. We will stand with Ukraine until victory as long as it takes,” the President said.
Gitanas Nausėda underlined that Lithuania was not only one of the biggest supporters of Ukraine in terms of per capita aid but also an effective contributor to Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration through diplomatic channels and by rallying international support.
“Last year, in just four months, we succeeded in mobilizing the European Union countries to grant EU candidate status to Ukraine. In the run-up to the NATO summit in Vilnius, we agreed with President Zelenskyy and President Duda to focus our efforts on advancing further Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations. Membership in the European Union and NATO are national strategic objectives, enshrined in Ukraine’s constitution which Ukrainians today defend with arms in hand. It is therefore our duty to do everything possible to help them,” the President said.
The Presidents of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine signed a joint declaration providing for further trilateral consultations to strengthen Ukraine’s security. The leaders welcomed Ukraine’s marked progress on the path of Euro-Atlantic integration, especially its rapid advance towards interoperability with NATO. Lithuania and Poland support Ukraine’s membership in NATO and seek consensus among NATO allies.
