It was agree at the meeting to continue the coordinated resistance to the aggressive and malicious Russian activity and threats it was posing, as well as the potential implications of it to the European security. The participants also voiced support to Ukraine, discussed the effects of the Russian war in Ukraine and changes of the security situation. The countries accentuated a strong political unity and cohesion in the face of the threats to the regions.
Another highlighted point was the ratification of Finland’s and Sweden’s NATO membership applications by all the Norther countries, and Lithuania along others is prepared to support the Fins and Swedes in the interim. The ministers agree that Finland and Sweden will significantly strengthen the collective security of the region and increase the stability in the Northern Europe and the whole Alliance.
The Nordic Group meetings include representatives of Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and the United Kingdom. The group addresses shared interests and complements other bilateral and multilateral defence cooperation formats that Lithuania is a part of.
