In his meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador to Italy Dalia Kreivienė, the President stressed the importance of cooperation between Lithuania and Italy within the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Gitanas Nausėda highlighted the strengthening of economic relations and cooperation in the fields of science and innovation as one of the top priorities, with particular focus on life sciences, engineering industry, logistics and energy.
The President also stressed the importance of paying due attention to cooperation in the areas of historical memory and culture, as well as to the promotion of Lithuanian identity and working with the Lithuanian community based in Italy.
With newly appointed Ambassador to Austria Lina Rukštelienė, President Gitanas Nausėda discussed political cooperation between the two countries and the centenary of diplomatic relations between Austria and Lithuania to be celebrated in 2024.
The meeting also addressed the prospects for economic cooperation between Austria and Lithuania, particularly in the areas of pharmaceuticals, energy, financial technologies, biotechnology, and innovation. The development of relations in the sectors of scientific research and culture was also the subject of the meeting.
Lithuanian Ambassador Dalia Kreivienė has 23 years of experience in the diplomatic service, working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Lithuanian diplomatic missions. Until now, she has worked as Director of the External Economic Relations and Economic Security Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Lithuanian Ambassador Lina Rukštelienė has extensive diplomatic experience. In Austria, she has served in Permanent Representation of Lithuania to International Organizations and the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the OSCE. Since 2021, she has held the position of Director of the Strategic Management and Analysis Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
