The meeting discussed the implementation of NATO decisions, following the NATO summit in Madrid, Russia's war against Ukraine and the European Union’s sanctions against Russia.
The Foreign Vice-Minister emphasised that Lithuania highly appreciated the decision of our strategic partner - Germany - to take the lead in expanding the military contingent in Lithuania to create a brigade.
As regards Russia's war in Ukraine, Karoblis stressed the need to continue our comprehensive military, economic and humanitarian support for Ukraine. “We must step up and accelerate our military support to Ukraine, which limits Russia’s ability to continue this war,” Lithuania's Foreign Vice-Minister said.
During his visit to our country, Kiesewetter will also visit German soldiers serving in NATO's enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group in Lithuania.
