WHEN: Tuesday 29 March, from 16.00 to 17.00 CET.
WHERE: European Parliament in Brussels, SPINELLI building, room 5G-2 and remotely.
According to reports from UNHCR and the European Commission, more than 3.5 million refugees, most of them women and children, have so far fled Ukraine following the invasion of the country by Russian troops. In this context, MEPs in the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Committee will discuss the situation these refugees are in with European Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson.
They will notably debate what support the EU can provide to manage the arrival of the refugees so they are protected from gender-based violence or sexual exploitation, and how to ensure they have access to public services like healthcare and education for the children.
