During his meeting with Ambassador Petro Beshta of Ukraine, the President emphasized that Lithuania consistently supported Ukraine’s sovereignty, did not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea and backed the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations. The meeting also discussed the most important events on this year’s bilateral agenda, including the meeting of the Council of Presidents, which is of particular importance for the strategic partnership of the two countries and which will be held in Lithuania this coming spring. The meeting also focused on the tense security situation in the region, Russia’s military build-up on the border with Ukraine and in Belarus.
During a remote meeting with Ambassador Sirilak Niyom of Thailand accredited to Lithuania and residing in Copenhagen, the President discussed the development of bilateral relations and opportunities for their expansion with particular emphasis on economic cooperation between the two countries as well as on the potential for developing ties in tourism and other areas.
During a remote meeting with Ambassador Sultana Laila Hossain of Bangladesh accredited to Lithuania and residing in Warsaw, the President and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations with a view to exploring opportunities for expanding economic ties, as well as cooperation in the field of student exchanges.
