Landsbergis welcomed the excellent bilateral relations and thanked Germany for its leadership in the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group (eFP BG) in Lithuania. “This the first bilateral meeting with the new German Foreign Minister. At today’s meeting, Germany expressed its solidarity with Lithuania, which has been experiencing China's pressure. This reaffirms that Germany is Lithuania's key partner, with which we have enjoyed our active political and economic relationship," said Landsbergis. The Foreign Minister noted that China’s illegal economic pressure was not only an attack on Lithuania, but also on the EU’s entire single market, which required a common response.
As regards the main challenges facing the region, Russia’s ongoing military escalation at Ukraine's borders and the ongoing security talks with Russia, Landsbergis noted the importance of a united and strong Western position on Russia’s groundless demands.
