Rule of law in Poland
On Tuesday, MEPs will debate the verdict of Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal challenging the primacy of European law over Polish law with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Members will vote on a resolution on Thursday. On Wednesday, MEPs will discuss the Polish near-total abortion ban that entered into force in January 2021.
UN climate change conference
MEPs are expected to call for more ambitious global emission reductions ahead of the COP26 UN climate change conference in Glasgow in November. The debate takes place on Wednesday and the vote on a resolution on Thursday.
Farm to Fork strategy
On Monday, MEPs are set to welcome the Farm to Fork strategy that aims to make the European food system fair, healthy and environmentally friendly.
Pandora papers
On Thursday, MEPs will vote on a resolution condemning the massive tax avoidance uncovered by the Pandora papers investigation.
Sakharov Prize winner
The winner of the 2021 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought will be decided by Parliament President David Sassoli and the political group leaders on Wednesday. This year’s finalists are Afghan women, the Bolivian politician Jeanine Áñez and the Russian activist Alexei Navalny.
Covid-19 vaccines
MEPs will state their demand for more transparent vaccine development, purchasing and distribution in the future in a resolution to be voted on Thursday.
