"The EU Association Agreements with Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova is the most reliable instrument for the transformation and modernization of these countries. To use it effectively we have to ratify the Agreements as soon as possible. I am delighted that Lithuania succeeded to begin this procedure so soon," underlined Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius.
"Our partners in the Eastern Association is planning its ratification of agreements already in the next few days and expect the same from us. I think that the speedy ratification – at least what we can do in order to smooth their chosen convergence with the European Union, for which these countries are totally unpaved lately punished in Russia," – said Butkevicius.
The prime minister said he hoped that the Lithuanian Parliament would ratify the Association Agreements with the three countries during this spring session already, and all the 28 EU member states would complete it until the next EU Eastern Partnership Summit to take place in May 2015.
