According to the President, the Baltic States must stand together in the face of the hybrid attack orchestrated by the Belarus regime.
At the meeting with the Speakers of the Baltic parliaments, the President stressed that the current situation on the external border of the EU demonstrated the necessity to re-evaluate migration and border security policies of the European Union. “We need to strive for a deeper involvement of the EU into the implementation of migration and border protection policies. The legal and financial framework the EU should help improve the protection of its external border while migration policy should respond better to the needs of the Member States,” President Nausėda said.
According to the President, the Zapad-2021 military exercise, organized by Russia in September, is an additional factor of tension on the Lithuanian border, making it essential for the Baltic States to remain united and vigilant.
At the meeting, the President of Lithuania also called for greater involvement of the Speakers of the Baltic parliaments in dealing with the prevention of the unsafe nuclear electricity, produced in third countries, from accessing to the internal market of the EU.
